Backpacks, Binders, and Boogie Wipes Contest — Giveaway!!

It’s that time of year again — sniffles, colds, allergies, and the flu — and with all of that comes seriously irritated noses! In our house, when cold season hits, we turn to Boogie Wipes saline wipes to keep Miss A’s nose clean without irritating or drying it out. We’ve been using Boogie wipes for about two years now. While they’re great for kids — even I love them. We generally buy the grape scent, which smells so much like the grape scented markers we used when I was a kid, but they also come in other scents, as well as unscented.

I also love that Boogie Wipes is a big supporter of teachers, and right now, they’re running a Backpacks, Binders, and Boogie Wipes Facebook contest! You can nominate your school to win one of three great prizes:

fiber one brownies

I am always looking for a low calorie treat that will satisfy my sweet tooth. Too often, I find myself reaching in the pantry for the big box of brownie mix, and, well, you and I both know that while it might taste good, it doesn’t end well for my waistline. I recently got the chance to review the chocolate chip cookie flavor of Fiber One’s 90 Calorie Brownies, and I have to say, I may have found the solution!

These brownies are really good! Because I like warm brownies, I stuck mine in the microwave for 10 seconds and had it with a glass of skim milk. I was surprised at how good it was. I usually stay away from “diet” foods because they usually don’t taste good enough to be worth the calories, but I really liked this one. I’ll definitely be buying these again!

And, because the folks at General Mills are so generous, in addition to the brownies, they sent this awesome gift pack to me, and now you can win one too!

Kidorable Kids Rain Boots Are a Splashing Good Time! Review and #Giveaway

Last summer when we were still living in Florida, the fine folks at Kidorable sent Miss A a pair of kids rain boots for review, and let me tell you, they have come in handy! As you can tell from our review of Kidorable’s Kids Rain Boots in the lucky cat style, they were a huge hit around here!

Let me tell you how durable Kidorable’s rain boots are! They’re made of natural rubber, they’re waterproof, and they will fit toddler feet as small as size 5, but go up to a toddler size 13 and sizes 1 and 2 for big kids.

These pictures were taken over a year ago, and to this day, Miss A still wears them! Apparently, her feet haven’t grown much, but these boots have taken more than their fair share of abuse and still work as well as the day we got them!

As usual, Kidorable doesn’t skimp on the adorable packaging!

Digital Scrapbooking Software – My Memories Review and Giveaway

As my long time readers may have noticed, I take a lot of photos. It’s a hobby of mine, and I love it. My camera is pretty much an extension of my arm. I’ve gotten into traditional scrapbooking in the past, but it’s terribly time consuming, and having a very active baby/toddler/preschooler to take care of over the past four years, I’ve let my scrapbooking hobby slide.

A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to try and review the My Memories digital scrapbooking software. I’m happy to say that it has reignited my love of scrapbooking! I sat down and in one afternoon was able to make a digital scrapbook of Miss A’s fourth birthday, and with a click of a button, I was able to send it to the My Memories website and order a hard copy.

About the My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software:

MyMemories Suite v3 software is a complete digital scrapbooking solution that provides a comprehensive powerful set of creative tools no other scrapbook software can offer. With its intuitive workspace and enhanced time-saving features, this application is perfect for a beginner to create a complete album in minutes, or to empower the design pro to build a scrapbook album masterpiece.

Making a Scrapbook
MyMemories Suite will help you create your beautiful pages from scratch or build an entire album using one of the many professionally-designed scrapbook templates provided within the scrapbook software. A large collection of papers and embellishments are also included and available at your fingertips to help you make each page uniquely your own.
If this were any other scrapbooking software, you might be finished. But with My Memories Suite, the real power-and fun-of this software is just beginning. There are so many ways to save and share your memories, you will wonder how you ever got along without it.

Affordable
With over 1,500 papers, over 1,000 page elements, and over 30 album templates (including 10 new for v3), MyMemories Suite lets you hit the ground running with your very own scrapbook or photo album in a matter of minutes. It’s easy-to-use and affordable—and compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. Don’t put off your important memories any longer, add MyMemories Suite to your shopping cart now.
You can make a beautiful scrapbook an interactive memory experience for anyone who sees it. Use simple one-click options to enhance your scrapbooks, with music, narration, video, and even the Internet. Go beyond pictures by showing off video of the birthday party, or record a narration to capture the memories that pictures alone cannot. With My Memories Suite you simply don’t look at a scrapbook-you experience it!

The software is incredibly easy to use. It comes with some free templates, but you can also order additional photobook and page templates and elements from their website. I wound up ordering the “Let’s Celebrate” template from the website, which was only $5.99, and was able to use that to create the 15 page photobook of Miss A’s birthday. It only took a few clicks to install the template, and just a few additional clicks on each page to customize it with a photo and text, and I wound up with a totally fun and completely unique photobook, which I know Miss A will treasure for years to come.

In addition to being able to purchase a hard copy, the My Memories software also allows you to export your scrapbook as a video or interactive album.

The My Memories digital scrapbooking suite is available from mymemories.com for $39.97, but my readers can save $10 by using the promo code STMMMS89737.

The wonderful folks at My Memories are also offering a FREE copy of the software to one lucky reader of Single Working Mama!

The winner will receive a free copy of the software, which can be downloaded instantly — no waiting for the prize to come in the mail. To enter, just fill out the Rafflecopter form below!

CLOSED — Win a 15-count Package of Saline Soothers saline nose wipes from the makers of Boogie Wipes #giveaway

This giveaway is now CLOSED. Thanks to all who entered!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, the sickies landed in our house again! All three of us were hit with back-to-back colds (some of us are still recovering) and the constant use of tissues was irritating our sensitive noses.

For my daughter, we relied on our trusty Boogie Wipes, but what could Mr Dad and I turn to? That’s when I was contacted to review the new Saline Soothers, which is a new line of saline nose wipes for adults from the makers of Boogie Wipes!

I loved the Saline Soothers. They weren’t nearly as rough on my nose as tissues, and they came in a gentle menthol scent, which wasn’t overpowering, but was definitely a bonus for helping with the stuffiness. The package we received had 15 wipes in it, which was enough to get the big jobs done until we were feeling better.

They also came in a convenient, purse-sized, self-sealing package, which helped keep them moist even after the first few were used.

With cold season right around the corner (and thank goodness summer is almost over!) I highly recommend keeping a package of these on hand. Saline Soothers are currently available at Walgreens, and will be debuting at Walmart stores very soon. The 15 count package retails for $1.99, but in the fall they will also be introducing a 45-count box.

Want to WIN a package of Saline Soothers to try before the cold season hits? Here’s how to enter!

CLOSED – Personalized Hand Stamped Jewelry from Joseph Allen Designs – Win a $50 Credit ! #giveaway

This giveaway is CLOSED. Thanks to everyone who entered!

I absolutely love custom jewelry…there’s nothing quite like the feeling of owning a piece that’s uniquely yours. Something you designed to suit your needs or style. Recently, I was looking to pick up a piece of “religious” jewelry (we’re Unitarian Universalists, not Christians, so this can be quite a task), when Joseph Allen Designs extended an offer to review a piece of their handstamped, custom jewelry. I knew this would be the perfect way to make a pendant to fit the sentiment I was trying to express.

Each Sunday in church, we wrap up our service by singing a hymn called Spirit of Life. There’s one line in it that really speaks to me: “roots hold me close; wings set me free“. While seemingly contradictory, that phrase just says to me that it’s equally important to recognize the roots from which we come, and to allow ourselves to be nurtured by them, so that we can truly be free to be ourselves, express ourselves, and grow.

The design I picked was the large hammered forever circle.  This design allows for up to 42 characters, or a stone, which takes up the space of one character. I chose the April birthstone because that’s the month we became members of our church. If you don’t want to use a quote, this particular design could potentially accommodate seven names (depending on the length of the name). For $69, this is a very affordable piece of personalized, hand-stamped jewelry.

Thankfully, Joseph Allen Designs had a design which allowed me to integrate this quote onto a pendant.

Custom made, with a little crystal added for added sparkle

I love this piece of jewelry and wear it with pride every chance I get — especially to church on Sundays! It feels sturdy, so I can wear it with confidence without worrying about it breaking, but it’s also not so heavy that I’m constantly aware it’s there.

Don’t mistake my choice of quote to be all that Joseph Allen Designs has to offer, though! They offer custom, hand-stamped bracelets, keychains, pet-themed necklaces, mokume necklaces (they have a satin finish and look really nice), all of which can be customized with whatever characters/words/names/quotes/birthstones you like! They even have stuff for men! In fact, I almost chose a hand-stamped baseball keychain for my husband.

An item from Joseph Allen Designs would be a fantastic gift for the holiday season, and since custom jewelry is made to order, it’s a good idea to get a head start on your holiday shopping now!

Want to WIN a $50 credit to Joseph Allen Designs? Here’s how to enter!
(Note: Winner will need to provide an email address and use that email address to create an account on Joseph Allen Designs’ website in order for credit to be issued)

Mandatory Entry: Who would you create a hand-stamped product for if you win? (Must complete this entry before any others will count!)

BONUS Entries: (comment once for each, unless otherwise specified)

Adorable Headbands from Lizzie, Izzie + James #review #giveaway

A few months ago, Lizzie, Izzie + James had a Groupon offer for $10 for $20 credit to their online store. When I saw the headbands in their online store, I fell in love and I KNEW I had to sign up! I love putting headbands and bows on Miss A, even if she rarely keeps them in her hair, and I absolutely loved the style and variety of hair accessories that Lizzie, Izzie + James offered.

Aside from the headbands themselves, I have to absolutely rave about their customer service! I had an issue with the Groupon I purchased (Groupon’s fault, NOT theirs) and they were super quick and easy to work with me to get the problem resolved. I had contacted both Lizzie, Izzie + James and Groupon for assistance, and Sherryl, the owner, got back to me and we had resolved the problem before Groupon ever did. (Thanks, Sherryl! You’re the best!)

Because of their awesome customer service and cute and ADORABLE products, I wanted to write up a post to let my readers know about them! I rarely write a review about a product that I’ve actually purchased, but this is one instance in which I’m glad to do it.

So, let’s talk about these ADORABLE hair accessories!

First, a little about Lizzie, Izzie + James. They’re a small business in New Canaan, CT (very close to my husband’s hometown in Fairfield County, CT), owned by a mom, Sherryl Mascarinas, who launched this line of hair accessories after creating some for her own children. (I just love mamapreneurs!) What lucky kids she has, because she seriously does a great job! The online store offers a variety of hair clips, headbands, and crowns (some for boys too)!

I used my Groupon to purchase an Alphabet Soup headband and the Tropicana headband. The quality of these headbands is superb. They’re handmade, but I could never tell that they were if I didn’t know it already. These headbands are definitely built to last…even against the three year old’s tendency to pull and throw and stomp on things.

Let’s let some pictures do some of the talking, though!

The package came elegantly wrapped. I almost felt guilty opening this!

The two headbands I purchased – Tropicana on the left, Alphabet Soup on the right

Miss A just loves these headbands! I’m sure your little one will, too!

{CLOSED} Get to Know Your Camera With Learn and Master Photography – $249 value! #review #giveaway

When Miss A was born, one of the things I knew I wanted to do was learn photography. I knew she’d grow up fast, and that I would want to capture as much of her growing personality as I could. So what did I do? I ran out and got my first DSLR when she was 2 months old. It was an Olympus E-510. It was a fantastic camera, and I honestly believe it was one of the best baby purchases I made.

Since then, I’ve upgraded to a Nikon d300s, which I love more than words can say. But sometimes, even after taking a couple classes and having a few years experience with the camera, you need a refresher course. I recently got a chance to review the Learn and Master Photography kit, and it did just the trick!

Learn and Master Photography comes with 24 lessons on 15 DVDs, plus a handy companion lesson book, and two discs with all of the raw and jpg files you’ll need to get started learning how to use your new DSLR camera and how to process photos. You’ll learn everything from what ISO, aperture and shutter speed are (and what they mean to the quality of your photo), photography style guidelines (such as the rule of thirds), digital file management, and other useful tips to help you go from camera novice to camera aficionado.

Best of all, this can all be done from the comfort of your own home! All you need is a DVD player to play the lessons.

The Learn and Master Photography kit retails for $249, but right now they have a sale going on! Until July 10th, you can purchase the set for $149.

One LUCKY reader can win a Learn and Master Photography kit!

{CLOSED} Color It By Numbers – Great Computer Games for Kids #review #giveaway

For a long time, Miss A has had a fascination with the computer. When she was a little baby and her Daddy was working on a video game/radio show, we used to sit and listen to his evening show and play along. She was less than 3 months old then, so she’s come a long way since sitting and punching random keys (or kicking them with her baby feet) and now actually understands how to interact with a computer!

I recently got the chance to review the Color it by Numbers Princess, Vehicles and Animals games. These games are very much like the Paint by Numbers books you might remember from your childhood. There are 9 colors, and each color is numbered to correspond with a spot on the picture. One quick click and the spot fills with that color! All your child needs to know how to do is read numbers and use a computer mouse. (Miss A doesn’t quite have the mouse skills yet, so we work on them together.) A friendly-sounding song plays in the background, and when your child finishes the picture, the picture sparkles and a chime plays!

Program features:

  • Three coloring modes
  • Easy to change preset colors
  • Cute and exciting images
  • Beautiful effects
  • Adapted for all screen resolutions
  • The picture is automatically saved after exiting the program
  • Music and sounds

As well as being in English, the program has been translated into German, Spanish, French and Russian. The game is available for PC, Mac and Linux. I use a MacBook Pro and it works like a charm!

Want to see how these games work? Check out the Video Tour!

Miss A quickly fell in love with this game — especially the Princesses! Here’s a video of us playing together.

Each game comes with 15 different coloring pages. Once it’s done, you can clear the painting and customize the colors as well, so you never have to do the same exact painting twice.

These games are intended for ages 4+ (but as you can see, Miss A still loves them at age 3) and can be purchased online at http://coloritbynumbers.com for $9.99 each (you save 10% if you buy two, and 15% if you buy three, so you can get all three for $25.47). The games have a 14 day satisfaction guarantee.

Giveaway

Do you think your child would love these games? You could win the entire set of three! Here’s how to enter.

Mandatory Entry (this must be done before any other entries will count): Which one of these games would the child you’d give this to like the best? (Princesses, Vehicles or Animals)

CLOSED – Kill Germs and Disinfect Your World with the Pocket Purifier’s UV Light #review #giveaway

It’s that time of year — cold and flu season is right around the corner. I don’t know about you, but in our house, between colds and allergies, it seems like we’ve been fighting off something since the beginning of summer. I’m sure having a three year old in daycare doesn’t help the situation either!

I’ll be getting in line very soon to get flu shots for all of us. I got one this past season, but Scott didn’t and he caught the flu and it was NOT a fun time for any of us. This year, in addition to the flu shots, I’ve also got the Pocket Purifier!

The Pocket Purifier is a GREAT way to eliminate germs without harsh chemicals. It’s a battery–operated, handheld device which uses a UV bulb to kill germs on surfaces (though not on skin — please don’t use this on your hands or body). In only 15 seconds, your countertops and other surfaces can be rendered germ free.

The Pocket Purifier is really easy to use. The light on the side of the Pocket Purifier is the UV bulb. Just hold it over the surface for 10-15 seconds and germs are gone.

The Pocket Purifier also comes with a handy flashlight on the front of it, so it’s a really handy and versatile item to carry in your pocket or purse.

The Pocket Purifier can be purchased from www.purelyproducts.com for $11.99, but one lucky reader can WIN a Pocket Purifier!

It’s REALLY easy to enter!
MANDATORY ENTRY: Comment and tell me why you want to win!
Bonus entry: (can be done after the mandatory entry) Like Purely Products on Facebook and comment letting me know you did.
