Hoo-ters
Having an 8 year-old daughter is highly entertaining. Tonight, she and I shared some alone time, and it included a trip to Ulta, where I got some hair products and she picked out her first lip gloss.
As we drove home, we drove past the new local Hooters restaurant.
“Mom, there is a restaurant named “Hoo-ters,” she stated, placing extra emphasis on the HOO. “I wonder what THAT’S all about?”
(Pause from me.)
Gulp. “Well, what do you think it’s about?”
“Hmm,” she shrugged, chuckling. “Maybe it’s about some owls?”
“Maybe!” I stated. End of discussion.
Good answer, my dear. Good, good answer.

Similar to your wonderful discussion with your daughter, I will preface by stating that we live about 3 minutes from Silk, the “gentlemens club”. While I have never been there, I have driven by about a million times. The outside looks very much like a castle. My husband’s granddaughter, now 4, has repeatedly asked him when they can go to “the castle”. He has avoided an answer for 2 years now. This past weekend, teddy had his best friend liam sleep over. Naturally, as they drove by Silk, liam’s first question was “what’s in that castle?” Now, we have explained this to teddy already- questions still pop up from time to time, yet apparently, in the car, my husband gave Teddy a look like “what should I say” and Teddy, bless his heart, left tony on his own. In the end my husband said “Liam, that’s a gentlemens club. Ask your mother if you have questions. What kind of toppings do you want on your pizza when we get home?” Well put, Tony. Enough said.
Love it- HOOO-ters!!!!
I spent time in that castle, back when it was an all-ages dance club! Haha! Remember the “Attic West?” Freaky that our teenage stomping grounds are now a strip club! Eeeeek!
